TOM COLLINS

The Tom Collins is a well known gin cocktail that can be served in a number of ways. Here at Stockport Gin, we actually 2 ways of making this. Paul prefers one - Cheryl another. Let us know which you prefer!

WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL I NEED TO MAKE A TOM COLLINS?

A spirits measure and a stirring spoon.

WHAT INGREDIENTS WILL I NEED TO MAKE A TOM COLLINS?

To make this iconic gin cocktail, you'll need some gin (obviously!), fresh lemons or limes, simple sugar syrup, club soda and ice.

WHAT GLASSWARE DO I NEED FOR A TOM COLLINS?

A Tom Collins is traditionally served in a Highball glass.

HOW DO I MAKE A TOM COLLINS?

As we say, we have two ways of making this cocktail but it's only the ingredients that change. The method is always the same!

Fill your highball glass with ice and add in 5ml of gin, 25ml of freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice (depending on which way you are making it!) and 10ml of simple sugar syrup. Top with club soda and stir slowly and gently to mix. Garnish with either a slice of lemon or lime, again depending on which you have chosen to use.

WHAT GIN DO YOU RECOMMENDED TO MAKE A TOM COLLINS?

A citrus based London Dry gin is the best gin to use for this cocktail. We have two that work perfectly.

Paul recommends using our Stockport Gin Original Edition gin. A classic London Dry gin distilled with lemon and orange peels - if choosing this gin you would make your Tom Collins with lemon juice.

Cheryl prefers to use our Stockport Gin Twist of Lime Edition gin. Another classic London Dry gin but distilled with fresh lime peels, it really enhances the Tom Collins to another level.

Give them both a go and let us know which you prefer!
